Students are assigned to the Michigan State University Infectious Disease Group and will work up consultations and round daily with an attending and infectious disease fellow. Students will become comfortable with managing common infections seen in the inpatient setting. They will also hone their differential diagnosis skills to identify uncommon and rare infections seen in the inpatient setting. Students will attend morning report, lectures and journal club in accordance with the infectious diseases fellow conference schedule. The student will provide ongoing care for approximately 4-7 patients at any given time. Students will be expected to take one weekend call during the clerkship and present selected cases at morning report after their weekend call. Students are also expected to rotate through the Sparrow microbiology laboratory for a few hours.
